Laptop For Home Studio Recording635863
Using a laptop for house studio recording projects is a fantastic idea. Following trading in my large ol' desktop a couple of years ago I put everything onto my laptop such as my music recording software. Using mainly Pro Tools and occasionally Digital Performer, but also have used Cakewalk and Cubase in the past.
What produced this alter-over so attractive to me was how much laptops have improved in the final couple of years. With the speed, energy, and storage capacity rivaling some of the top desk leading models. Throw in the portability aspect and it was a no-brainer.
You can also take your home studio to another house or even pro studio and integrate your project into their set up or merely transfer your tracks. Getting this choice has saved me lots of time and cash as well as enhancing on some of the quality of some tracking I wasn't in a position to do at home. Following which, you simply pack up your laptop and go plug it back into your personal house studio with all these new tracks to play around with.
Which laptop?
The choice for Computer customers has come down to this: Intel Core 2 Duo Pro. Luckily for us, they have began creating laptops that are really high performance music production machines. Same factor applies to macs. The new Mac PowerBooks have Intel core two duo as nicely, making them faster than something we've seen yet. These are truly amazing at only 1 inch in thickness and up to four Gig's of memory and 250 Gig difficult drives.
Considering these type of features and their portability and little usage space on your desk, any home recording studio enthusiast would be crazy to even think about a large ol' desk top any longer.
