If you can give your child a thirst for reading, the complete planet opens to him. We noticed it with Joy, who at 6 was reading at a degree twice her age. But for Joy, a visual learner, the process had been an easy, nearly effortless process. When we experimented with to use the identical methods with Hope, we identified two things: Hope is not a visual learner and we actually had no approach to teach reading! So with Hope we had to start from scratch. We discovered ourselves bouncing from one approach to yet another, scatterbrained, but as well bad to put out the megabucks required for any of the flashier programs. We were doubtful at first, but right after going through it with four children and hearing hundreds of “success” stories, we're believers! After 100 lessons your child will be reading at a solid 2nd grade level.
My only complaint requires the stories. There is a new story every lesson, starting at lesson 13, and they are also silly for my tastes. But they were the highlights for all our children, so I won't complain too loudly! Hope, after 50 lessons, was reading smoothly, writing quick “stories,” and on her very own picked up and read other "easy" books. She finished the guide before her 5th birthday and effortlessly moved into a 3rd grade reading text. Grace also completed the program although nonetheless 4, though there had been days that we much more than exceeded the twenty minutes prescribed.
