Thermowood® is high quality timber cladding with natural weather resistance made from specially selected Northern Scandinavian Redwood (Pinus Sylvestris). The process improves dimensional stability and biological durability of wood. When the wood is subjected to intensive heat, it dries out deep into the core and any moisture and resin is removed from the timber. In this study two industrially important Turkish wood species, pine (Pinus nigraArnold.) and fir (Abies bornmülleriana Matf.) were heat-treated using the ThermoWood process.

But there are a number of other changes occurring during the modification process that also contribute to the increased durability such as a lower level of moisture. This is a process enhancing the whole wood area enabling to use the timber for specific purposes.

Thermal treatment has long been known to enhance wood's resistance to decay. Thermowood's superior ترمو وود resistance to water and to attack from fungi means that it will last as long - if not longer - than chemically-treated softwood. Sansin's test results confirmed that without suitable coating, heat treated wood is not weather resistant and particularly susceptible to UV degradation.

By heating the wood to 212oc, resistance to decay and dimensional stability are greatly enhanced, creating the Thermo-D properties suitable for exterior and interior cladding materials. We carry both thermally treated sawn timber and finished goods. Thermowood was developed to offer similar durability and stability properties to Western Red Cedar at a lower cost.

For Scots pine only sound knotted heartwood originated from top log is suitable for our products. As a result of the ThermoWood process, the dimensional stability, biological durability and insulation properties are permanently improved. During the heat treatment, chemical and structural changes occur within the timber which alter and improve some of its basic characteristics.

The Nordic softwood Thermowood has a little more character and a few more knots but is painted with a hugely hard wearing paint to RAL 9005 so increasing durability even further. The production process is based on the gradual thermal modification of wood, where in the chemical and physical properties of the wood undergo permanent change.

In summary, the thermal treatment of softwood has a positive influence on the swelling and shrinkage, the color and the biological durability. With lower moisture comes higher weather resistance, meaning that thermally treated wood can be used for outdoor purposes such as facades and exterior cladding.

Wood Products division provides versatile wood-based solutions for building and housing. The end product aesthetically resembles Teak, Ipé, Mahogany and other tropical varieties of wood but if left untreated outside develops a silver grey patina. Thermowood decking can be left untreated or can have a deck oil applied.Thermowood decking has a 15 year guarantee against rot and fungal decay, which is subject to correct installation and treating the cut ends of the timber.

As the treatment process does not involve any chemicals, it is less expensive to produce. Thermo-processed wood is darker than natural wood, more weatherproof and more resistant to rot. Manufactured using the power of heat rather than harsh chemicals, Thermowood is an inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and resistant building material which is proving to be very popular, especially for external cladding.

EMC of thermally modified wood is lower than natural wood. Thermowood is less likely to warp, twist or cup due to the inability to absorb or lose moisture caused from the thermal modification process. The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product is in conformity with the EU requirements that apply to it. All Lunawood exterior cladding products are CE-marked, which guarantees their performance.

Lunawood ThermoWood is an attractive, sustainable product that can be used in interior as well as exterior areas. The Thermo Wood line includes a rainscreen cladding to protect the wood on the exterior and to preserve the aesthetics and durability of the wood.

Thermo modification treatment gives the wood new, useful best and newest features on the outdoor products are the excellent resistance against decay and permeability, which increase the lifetime and durability. The Finnish wood heat treatment technology ThermoWood, was recently introduced to Turkey.
